The new Nashville chapter of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship, a church-wide organization working for justice, peace, nonviolence and equity is sponsoring Melanie Atha, new national Executive Director, for a gathering here at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Nashville on Tuesday evening, May 14, from 7:00-8:00 pm. The theme for the evening will be “Peacemaking for the 21st Century Church,” with a particular focus on racial healing and reconciliation. Ms. Atha worked as an attorney in Birmingham, Alabama, for many years, with a specialty in collaborative law practice, and was appointed Executive Director of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship in January 2019. This year the Episcopal Peace Fellowship is celebrating their 80th anniversary of advocacy and activism for peace. In addition to her presentation, there will be a time for questions and discussion with Melanie regarding the role of peacemaking in the Episcopal church, with a reception following. Questions may be directed to Richard Wineland, Cate Faulkner or Cory Dryden.
